A Crafting Order should either produce an item or return the materials when something goes wrong. Some World of Warcraft players are seeing neither. Their orders appear briefly, become inaccessible or vanish altogether, taking the submitted resources with them.
Reported losses include Sparks, Crests, profession materials, gold and existing items submitted for recrafting. One player in the official EU forums lost two Sparks and 80 Myth Crests after an order appeared on the crafter’s side for only a moment. That is not a minor inconvenience. Eighty Myth Crests can represent weeks of progression, and a missing recrafted weapon can leave a character without the item it was trying to upgrade.
Blizzard has addressed a separate Spark of Tides distribution issue, but its published hotfix notes do not announce a fix for disappearing Crafting Orders.
1. What is happening to WoW Crafting Orders?
The reports do not all begin at the same point in the transaction. Some orders vanish immediately after submission. Others reach the crafter, consume profession Concentration or allow the item to be crafted before an error prevents completion. There are also reports of cancelled orders failing to return their contents.
The customer is left without the finished item, while the order no longer appears in a usable form for either player. Depending on the recipe, the missing resources can include Sparks, Crests, optional reagents, ordinary materials, the commission and an existing item submitted for recrafting.
Wowhead reported the failed Crafting Order issue after complaints appeared across community channels. The official EU forum thread contains reports from multiple players, realms and order types.
Blizzard has not publicly explained what causes the failure.
2. A failed order can erase more than replaceable materials
Losing ordinary reagents is frustrating, but most can be bought again. The serious cases involve resources that cannot be replaced with another trip to the Auction House.
Sparks are time-gated. High-tier Crests require substantial raid or dungeon progression. An embellishment may be expensive, while a recraft can place the existing weapon or armor piece inside the failed transaction.
One August report in the EU thread documents the loss of two Sparks, 80 Myth Crests, gold and additional materials. The crafter saw the order appear for a split second before it disappeared.
A similar US forum report from April 2026 describes the same two-Spark and 80-Crest loss pattern. The two incidents may not have the same technical cause, but disappearing orders were clearly reported before the current wave.
3. The missing Spark bug is a separate problem
Two different bugs are currently being discussed under similar headlines.
| Issue | What happens | Confirmed Blizzard response |
|---|---|---|
| Disappearing Crafting Order | The order vanishes while the item and submitted resources remain missing | No dedicated fix or guaranteed restoration process has been announced |
| Misplaced Spark of Tides | A character received fewer Sparks than intended or was accidentally granted too many | Blizzard addressed missing-Spark issues during maintenance and announced cleanup for over-cap Sparks |
Blizzard’s August 25 post about misplaced Sparks says scheduled maintenance addressed issues affecting players who were missing Spark of Tides items.
The same post announced additional cleanup waves for rare cases in which characters received Sparks above the intended cap. Blizzard says some of those excess Sparks may be removed.
If your Spark total suddenly increased beyond what your character should have earned, do not assume the extra Spark is a gift. Avoid spending an amount you cannot account for until the cleanup is complete. Blizzard has not explained every possible outcome when an incorrectly granted Spark has already been used.
4. Is the WoW Crafting Order bug fixed?
There is no announced fix in the currently published notes.

Blizzard’s August 27 hotfix list covers classes, raids, items, professions and quests. It does not mention Crafting Orders disappearing with their resources.
Reports have continued appearing in the official support discussion, so there is not enough evidence to declare high-value orders safe. A server-side correction could arrive before Blizzard publishes a detailed explanation, making the update date at the top of this article important.
5. Check the obvious places before filing a report
Both the customer and crafter should relog, then check their active orders, claimed orders, completed history, bags, reagent bags, banks and in-game mail. For a recraft, confirm whether the original equipment has returned to its slot or inventory. Make sure both people are checking the correct character, realm and order category.
These checks can catch a delayed interface or an item that appeared somewhere unexpected. They are worth doing because they do not alter the transaction. They are not a documented recovery method for the disappearing-order bug.
If the order remains missing, stop experimenting. Do not send an identical order to see whether the second attempt works. Another submission could put a second set of Sparks, Crests and materials at risk.

6. Save evidence and contact Blizzard
Record the transaction while both players still remember what appeared on their screens:
- Customer and crafter character names
- Realms and regions
- Crafted item, profession and order type
- Approximate time and time zone
- Sparks, Crests, materials and gold submitted
- Error messages shown to either player
- Whether profession Concentration was consumed
- Screenshots of bags, mail and order history
- A short account of what each player saw
Keep the original screenshots for support. If you post them publicly, remove unrelated private chat from the public copies.
Submit a support ticket for the missing transaction and a bug report explaining how the order failed. A ticket records the affected account and transaction, while a bug report gives the development team information about the failure itself.
A clear report can begin like this:
On August 28 at approximately 21:10 CEST, my character submitted a Guild Crafting Order for [item] to [crafter and realm]. The crafter saw the order briefly, received [error], and the order disappeared. The item, two Sparks, 80 Myth Crests, listed materials and commission were not returned. Both characters relogged and checked their bags, order history and mail.
Support needs the sequence, losses and timestamps more than a theory about what happened inside the server.
7. Will Blizzard restore the lost materials?
There is no universal restoration process for disappearing Crafting Orders at the time of this update. A support ticket is still worth submitting, but it should not be treated as a promise that a Game Master can manually return every resource.
A small number of players in the EU support thread reported receiving their Sparks while their Crests remained missing. They suspected the Sparks came from the separate misplaced-Spark correction rather than restoration of the failed order. Blizzard has not confirmed that explanation.
That distinction matters. Seeing Sparks return does not necessarily mean the original transaction has been reconstructed, especially when its Crests, materials, gold or equipment remain missing.
8. Should you place an expensive Crafting Order now?
There is no official guarantee that a particular order will complete correctly. I would not risk a recraft containing multiple Sparks, high-tier Crests or an important equipped item while new reports are still appearing.
Low-cost orders made from easily replaced materials are a different calculation. If you proceed, use a crafter you trust, confirm the recipe and quality target, and screenshot the order before submitting it. That will not prevent a system failure, but it removes ordinary misunderstandings and gives both players a record of what was sent.
Waiting may delay one upgrade. Losing the item and its restricted reagents can stall the character for much longer.
9. What customers and crafters should not do
If an order produces an error, the crafter should stop clicking Craft, Complete or Cancel and take a screenshot immediately. Record whether the commission, materials and profession Concentration were consumed, then tell the customer exactly what appeared.
Neither player should delete related mail, destroy items, resubmit the same expensive order or install unknown addons advertised as a fix. Do not pay someone claiming they can recover the materials, and never share Battle.net credentials with a supposed helper.
Be especially wary of any “instant fix” that asks you to destroy an item or send another full-cost order. None of the verified sources establishes those actions as a recovery method.
