You can get WoW Forever beta access through Blizzard’s free Beta Opt-In or an eligible purchase. The free sign-up does not guarantee an invitation. For guaranteed access, you need the Skyborne Epic Pack, Warcraft Forever Collection, or a physical Collector’s Edition beta code. Testing runs from September 17 through October 21, 2026, but an exact opening hour has not been announced.
What is the WoW Forever beta?
The WoW Forever beta is a limited testing period for Blizzard’s reimagined version of the original Azeroth, ahead of its November 4, 2026 release.
This is a test build, so features can change. Blizzard has not confirmed that beta characters or progress will transfer to the released game. Treat your time in the beta as a chance to try the game and report problems, not as a confirmed head start.
Blizzard’s official gameplay trailer gives you a look at the setting and gameplay:
How to get WoW Forever beta access
Your options depend on whether you are willing to wait for an invitation or want a purchase that includes access.
| Access method | Includes guaranteed beta access? | Listed US price |
|---|---|---|
| Free Beta Opt-In | No, selection required | Free |
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | No | $29.99 |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | Yes | $59.99 |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | Yes | $79.99 |
| Physical Collector’s Edition | Yes, through an emailed beta code | Varies by region |
Check the Battle.net Shop for your account’s regional pricing before purchasing.
Register through the free Beta Opt-In
If you do not want the paid pack benefits, start with the free registration:
- Visit the official World of Warcraft: Forever page.
- Sign in to the Battle.net account you intend to play on.
- Select Beta Opt-In and complete the registration.
- Check that the page confirms your registration.
Blizzard has not published a guaranteed invitation schedule for free applicants. Signing up does not reserve a place on opening day, so watch the email address linked to your account and check Battle.net for access.
Use Blizzard’s own website for registration. A third-party offer to sell you a “free opt-in invitation” is not part of this process.
Choose an eligible digital pack
The Skyborne Epic Pack is the lower-cost digital option if guaranteed beta access is your reason for purchasing.
It includes the Heroic Pack benefits, additional cosmetics, and 30 days of WoW Game Time beginning on November 4. The Warcraft Forever Collection adds Warcraft III: Reforged, the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and extra housing decor. Blizzard lists the Collection as available through January 11, 2027.
That makes the choice fairly straightforward: consider the Collection if you also want its Warcraft III content. You do not need to buy the more expensive bundle solely to enter the beta.
Before checking out, confirm that you are signed in to the correct Battle.net account. Consult Blizzard’s official edition breakdown if a retailer’s description leaves out any benefits.
Redeem a physical Collector’s Edition beta code
The physical Collector’s Edition includes a Warcraft Forever Collection digital code, but its beta delivery process differs from a direct Battle.net purchase.
Blizzard says beta code redemption instructions are sent by email. Check the address used for your order, including spam and promotions folders. Do not assume that a delivery time reported by another buyer applies to your store or region.
The Collector’s Edition announcement specifies that the beta code:
- Requires a WoW game account.
- Is limited to one redemption per account.
- Cannot be redeemed on an account that already has beta access.
- Cannot be resold.
These are separate from Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes, which cover November 4 through November 11. Those friend codes are for launch week, not the September test.
When does the WoW Forever beta start and end?
| Event | Announced date |
|---|---|
| Beta begins | September 17, 2026 |
| Beta ends | October 21, 2026 |
| Early Name Reservation | October 27 through November 3, 2026 |
| Global launch | November 4, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST |
Blizzard labels the beta dates in PST but has not provided an exact opening hour. Without that hour, there is no reliable basis for a countdown or city-by-city start-time table.
The 3:00 p.m. PST time belongs to the November launch, not the September beta. Do not use it to plan your first testing session.
How to check your access and download the beta
Use the Battle.net account connected to your registration, digital purchase, or redeemed code. Once Blizzard enables access and makes the client available, check the World of Warcraft game-version selector in the Battle.net app for the test client.
An exact Forever beta menu label and public preload schedule have not been confirmed. For now, avoid instructions that claim a specific download size or tell you to select an unverified client name.
Download through Blizzard’s services. You should not need a third-party installer, shared download folder, or a separate website asking for your Battle.net password.

What to do if the beta does not appear
First, check whether the test has opened and the client is available. A missing option before that point does not establish that your purchase or registration failed.
After opening, the next step depends on your access method.
You used the free opt-in
Your account may not have been selected. Reinstalling Battle.net will not turn a pending registration into an invitation. Check your account and email for Blizzard’s confirmation before troubleshooting the download.
You bought the Heroic Pack
The Heroic Pack does not include beta access, so a missing client is not necessarily a launcher problem. Check the available upgrade options and total cost before making another purchase.
You bought an eligible digital pack
Open your purchase history and confirm that payment completed on the account you are using. Restart Battle.net if the account is correct but the client list has not refreshed.
If access is still missing after the beta becomes available, contact Blizzard Support with your transaction information. Keep receipts and account details out of public forum posts.
You ordered the physical Collector’s Edition
If the redemption email is missing, contact the Gear Store or retailer that processed your order. If you received a code but cannot redeem it, check whether it has already been used or whether the selected WoW account already has access.
For account-side problems, consult Blizzard’s beta access support.
Do you need a WoW subscription for the beta?
Blizzard states that the released game requires a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. Its Collector’s Edition beta terms also require a WoW game account. However, those requirements do not clearly establish that every selected free applicant must maintain active game time throughout the test.
Do not buy game time solely because you assume it is required for beta entry. That condition needs explicit confirmation from Blizzard.
The 30 days included with the Epic Pack and Collection begin on November 4, rather than when testing opens. Factor that included time into your plans before buying more.
